It’s not what you have in life that matters, but who you have in life. Yet for most, the idea of attending a family reunion sounds like two parts crazy, one part loud and no parts worthy of PTO. The idea of reconnecting with your roots should be re-affirming, after all, the most wonderful things in life are the people we love. Since only the best and maybe a bit out-of-the-box will do for you, focus on a family reunion at one of these 20 fabulous spots, where there’s a little something lovely for each and every one.

Let’s not lie to ourselves, technology is everywhere and it’s permeated parts our lives most of us would have assumed we’d keep private. We wake up in the morning, scroll through a few feeds before picking up our double shot espresso latte ordered on the Starbucks app, complain about the line on Twitter, while emailing work about being late. There’s never been a generation so attached to our devices, so dependent on technology to drive our lives. Decompressing now means disconnecting, getting off-the-grid and finding an inspiring pocket of the planet so remote as to remain unfettered by wifi signals and Insta stories so that we can socialize, gather and connect IRL.
We’ve got some pretty darn perfect picks for said off-the-grid trips – remote, sweetly serene yet cutting-edge cool hotspots where we agree, go technology free. So plan your next Instagram-free fete away from your “social” life and instead of engaging online with your followers, engage and socialize with your closest friends offline, just like the old days.

We’re talking cedar hot tubs in the forest, hot pools in the French Alps, wood-fired tubs overlooking Patagonia, geothermal lagoons in Iceland, and more spots that’ll heat you up inside and out. Chill factor? We’re aiming for literally zero.

Right about now, you’re probably scrambling to order Dad those whiskey stones, a nice tie or maybe even that nine-iron he’s been eyeing. Here at The Venue Report, we believe we are the sum of our experiences, not the sum of our belongings. This year, instead of spending your hard-earned green on some thing, say yes to new adventures with "old Dad." At least, that's how my Dad refers to himself. Hunker down over a hand-crafted cocktail or two, maybe throw a few cards around a campfire. Play a round of golf or pony up and grab a gourmet meal.
