Inside Scoop

Originally conceived as a private home, the 8,500 square foot Villa now serves as an extension of the Sunstone Winery lifestyle. On a trip to France, owners Linda and Fred Rice discovered architectural remains of buildings in towns and villages in various regions of France, including Marseille and Provence.  Built from French limestone, wooden beams and roof tiles reclaimed from a 19th century lavender factory, once owned by Queen Victoria, the Villa is an opportunity to see and touch pieces of history.  The Villa was completed in 2004.

The Villa has five luxurious suites with its own private bath, antiques, fine linens, bedding and private entrances.  There are eight fireplaces, wood-burning oven, Billiards Room and numerous terraces with views of the mountains and vineyard.  The Villa’s French farm kitchen and courtyard are favorite gathering spaces. The kitchen is stocked with basic cooking equipment, plates, glasses and flatware. There is a wood burning oven on the Center Courtyard.  In the evening, you will want to make a fire in the Center Courtyard’s fireplace and relax with a glass of wine.

Venue Features
The scene:
The Villa at Sunstone is an exclusive prioperty that only does a handful of weddings per year.

Experience the Sunstone Estate with a stay at the luxurious Sunstone Villa. Once a private residence, The Villa is now proud to share its unique architecture and artifacts with guests. Staying at the Villa offers you the opportunity to see and touch a piece of history.

Surrounded by sweeping views overlooking the Santa Ynez Mountains and the winery’s 55-acre estate, the Villa at Sunstone is an old world architectural masterpiece.

Completed in 2004, the Villa was constructed entirely from artifacts and materials recovered from buildings and rural villages carefully selected by Sunstone founders Fred and Linda Rice while on numerous trips to quarries and reclamation yards. The Villa has five master suites each replete with its own private bath, fine linens and bedding. It also includes eight fireplaces, Billiards room and numerous terraces and patios with views of the mountains and vineyard.

Design:
Built from imported limestone from a small village in France, and wood beams and roof tiles reclaimed from a 19th century lavender factory, once owned by Queen Victoria, the Tuscan-inspired Villa boasts 8,500 square feet of luxury living space.

30 Winery, Brewery & Distillery Venues to Have the Most Fun Wedding At
They say falling in love is like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it will be your favorite. If that’s the case, hosting a wedding for such a romantic, yet joyous notion should be at a venue that’s one part character, two parts conviviality. Wineries, breweries & distilleries are a rousing combination of setting and spirits. But mainly, wineries, breweries & distilleries top wedding venue lists for reasons much less complex than the character of their spirits: they’re usually set in the sweetest of surroundings and well, we all like a little tipple or two. After all, no good (love) story ever started with a salad.  Reporter: Katie David | Location: Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse
