Venue Setting

We are conveniently located only 5 minutes from the Historic Downtown District of Savannah, in a beautiful southern landscape surrounded by 300-year-old oak trees. The Mackey House is located on an old 440 acre dairy farm originally owned and operated in the 1920s by my great-great-grandfather, Edward Martin. The farm is still owned and operated by the family today.

Our Main House and Deck consist of our large, colonial style home and a recently expanded 4000 sq. ft. deck with a glass covered dance floor. The entire space is covered by a large clear tent. The deck overlooks the other three areas of the property, the Gardens, Pavillion, and Lakeside. Our entire property is sprayed by the county to control bugs and insects. 

The Gardens at The Mackey House are lined with large tropical ferns, palms trees, and beautifully manicured flowers, wooden swings, with rustic wrought iron garden furniture spread throughout, creating the perfect location for any part of your event. Alongside the Gardens is our 3000sq. ft. Pavilion quietly tucked away under shady pine and oaks trees.  The Pavilion along with our covered Deck can accommodate events year round. Finally, our Lakeside area provides fairytale scenery for any wedding ceremony, reception or cocktail hour. We think you will agree that The Mackey House at Red Gate is one of the most beautiful destinations in Savannah!

The use of Mackey House Preferred Caterers is required on certain days of the week and during peak months. There is a 7% Sales tax on all food and beverage. Several different beverage packages are available for your bar service. We can provide a full bar with premium liquors or a beer and wine only bar. Pricing is based upon the size of your group. We have packages that include signature drinks, specialty liquors, specialty glassware, and/or additional time.

The Scene:
The Mackey House sits on the property of Georgia's oldest dairy farm. We are just a portion of this vast 440-acre land which is home to many ponds, barns, large colonial style homes, several hundred year old oak trees, and an abundance of wildlife. As you descend from the city road, down our gravel pathway, passing a large field and several ponds, your environment transforms into a 'modern' southern landscape. As you make your way through the trees into the back portion of the property, you come upon magnificent, breathtaking home of the Mackey's. The twinkle lights along the bridge, driveway and front of the house give a warm fairytale welcome to your guests. As you make your way around our 2-acre pond into our open parking space, you have a view of our garden, pavilion and back deck. The entrance to the garden, under a grand oak tree, leads you into a breath-taking landscape, where you will know that you chose the perfect space for your event.

The Pavilion:
Fully heated and air-conditioned with a wood-burning fireplace. Can be used for either Ceremony or Reception. Contains 2 restrooms that are available the entire event. *Most Popular Cocktail Hour Area*
