I’d choose a night at the Roxbury any day…Roxbury Barn that is!
Built by a boat captain, home to an admiral, and shot as the main-house in an Oscar-nominated documentary, this fascinating and historical establishment is unlike anything you have ever seen. Turn heads as you make your way through the big barn doors into the main space for a beautiful wedding ceremony then take the party outside where you can dance and celebrate amongst lily ponds, pine groves, mountains, and fire-pits.

Venue Setting

Fusing Catskills heritage with feisty modern flair, our estate includes a boldly redesigned carriage barn, lush perennial gardens, a series of ponds, a large roofed pavilion with spectacular mountain vista, and a dramatic pine grove, nicknamed our natural cathedral. All these distinctly different locations on our estate can be included in your day.

It’s this change of scenery through the event, the blend of stunning Catskills environment, genuine hospitality, fresh farm-to-table food, and bar service with pizazz, which makes The Roxbury Barn & Estate the perfect setting for a truly unique and timeless celebration.

Bordering forever wild forests in the high peaks of the Central Catskills, our estate consists of 42 acres of stunning natural scenery.

Upon arrival through our tree covered driveway, guests enter the sloping meadows of Spring Hill, where a large bonfire is set up, waiting to be lit as the finale of the day.

The Hilltop Pavilion offers gorgeous mountain views, and the nearby pine grove, with its majestic, towering trees, is the ideal open air setting for a Catskill wedding ceremony.

Stroll down Spring Hill and enter the tree lined courtyard leading to the barn. With its rambling brook on one side and the water lily pond on the other, it’s a great spot for an outdoor dinner celebration on warmer evenings.

Our Carriage Barn is what is called a bank barn: it’s built into the side of a cliff. The lower level, only visible from the backside, is where our caterer has their prep area. The floors above, with a main entrance through the big barn doors with a glass facade, form the main event spaces.

The 168 year old barn’s interior is both spacious and intimate with its two level setup, combining silver-gray washed rough-cut walls all around, black-stained original post and beam structure, and state-of-the-art modern Italian designer chandeliers.

Painstakingly restored and renovated, the carriage barn combines old-world grandeur with the comfort of a sleekly designed bar, well outfitted restrooms, air-conditioning and heating, wifi and audio systems. This solid structure is uniquely redesigned to facilitate flawless events.

The Roxbury Barn & Estate has been a pioneer in the recent revival of the Catskills. Having welcomed guests from all corners of the world for a decade now, we understand what it takes to make a momentous celebration happen. We’ll be your main partner, every step of the way, and offer plenty of tools and advice to make the planning process for your event easy and exciting.

We’ll provide year round availability to answer any questions, assistance during walk-throughs, our reliable Green List of superb vendors, easy to apply floor plans with a wide range of seating arrangement suggestions, and our Lodging List of over 125 of the best accommodations in the area.

On the afternoon previous to a full day wedding, couples may drop off items, fine-tune decor, and have a ceremony rehearsal assisted by our venue manager. And on the wedding day, our staff will welcome and guide your guests, set up sites and break them down, shuttle anyone wherever they need to go on our grounds in our carts, keep things tidy and do the big clean-up. And you have the morning after your wedding to come and collect any left behind items.

Additional Charges

Our 2019 venue fee for a full day (8-hour) wedding is $16,900. The rate includes a full wedding day, plus the afternoon previous to the wedding date to drop off items, decorate, or have a ceremony rehearsal (from 3pm till 7pm), use of our tables and chairs (two sets of chairs for dinner and your ceremony), use of our speaker system, beautiful restrooms in the barn, a large pavilion on top of our field for a roofed ceremony or for cocktails, use of our pine grove for a magical outdoor ceremony, use of a separate, large lawn for parking, outdoor furniture (Adirondack chairs, wooden benches and chairs), and use of two spaces in our house behind the barn to get ready. Part of the charm of our place are all the different little environments (dramatic pine grove, open field with mountain vista, secluded lawn with frog pond…), and we encourage couples to plan on including all of it in their wedding day.

The things that are not included are catering and bar. Ate O Ate is our exclusive caterer (and in our opinion the absolute best catering company in our area). Their full event catering menu starts at $95 per person and includes three passed hors d’oeuvres and a market table with local cheeses, charcuterie, crudités, etc. for cocktail hour, and a plated salad, two main dishes and two side dishes for dinner. Our bar packages range from $29 per person to 49 per person, for a 4-hour window starting at cocktail hour, and can be extended to a 7 hour maximum. The maximum size of any party at our place is 140 persons.
