Venue Setting

The Property
       
A landmark residential property situated at the end of a private road, occupying 2.3 hectares of prime waterfront overlooking the Coral Sea on Pioneer Bay, Woodwark. The property features sweeping 180° views from Hayman Island to Cannonvale as well as extensive terraced gardens and revegetated rainforest.  The main residence comprises over 1000 square metres and includes 4 bedrooms, all with ensuites, office, extensive open-plan living areas, separate dining room, comprehensive media room, stainless steel BBQ and smoker room, porte cochere, separate foyer entrance and huge wrap around, flat pebble tiled verandahs, framed by 22 carved timber columns atop low carved stone walls.
 
The Venue
 
Extensively carved entrance featuring teak sculpted doorway opens onto covered walkway which leads through meditation pond and fernery to massive 3.4 metre high antique Indian doors surrounded by hand carved sandstone decorative panels. Foyer is defined by an 8-metre wide handcarved teak room divider which opens onto large open plan living area featuring cathedral ceilings lined with imported rattan panels, built in fireplace, cocktail bar and French art deco suspension lights.
 
Marble staircase leading to two main bedrooms features unique twisted hardwood vine handrail.
 
All bathrooms in the main house have been clad floor to ceiling with imported Java Rosso marble as well as downstairs floors and staircase. Verandah columns, trimmings, sliding doors, windows and carved panels are in premium grade Merbau and old teak. Upstairs main bathroom features 11/2 tonne bathtub sculpted from a single granite boulder.
 
10,000 litre built in aquarium opens onto both dining room and guest toilet and features an extensive external pump and filtration system in a separate utilities room. Carpeted media room features imported onyx ceiling panels and unusual wave pattern ceiling.
 
Expansive state of the art kitchen with central island and stainless steel appliances features benchtops in a green conglomerate granite sourced from Argentina. Separate laundry, walk in pantry and pump room, self contained stainless steel BBQ and smoker room, reverse cycle split system aircon in all rooms, Cbus computerised lighting, halogen downlights through out supplemented with French art glass lights from the 20s and 30s, two undercover carports to accommodate four cars and quad bike, covered verandahs upstairs and downstairs paved with imported chequerboard pebble tiles, parapet walkway overlooking hand carved frog fountain pond. Entry statement features antique Indian iron gates and remote contolled security system.
 
The Gardens
 
The garden which spreads over two acres, consists of an extraordinary array of cacti and succulents, including around 160 species of aloe, 180 agaves, 150 euphorbias and countless pachypodiums, caudiciforms, kalanchoe, sansevieria, gasteria, yucca, nolinia, puyas, dyckias and succulent bromeliads.
 
The gardens also feature an enclosed, wind protected “equatorial rainforest” gully with hundreds of young palms, aroids, ferns etc, a collection of bromeliads plus numerous fruit trees and bamboos etc.

Unlike our all inclusive packages, Botanica’s Celebration Wedding Experience provides you with exclusive use of this breathtaking venue and from there you are free to add on only those services you really need, without having to pay for extras you might not have wanted in the first place.

This really is a “design your own wedding” package in the truest sense, with lots of options offered to you as you proceed through your planning stages, all from suppliers whom we know and trust.

With the Celebration Wedding Experience, you are in total control of what you spend. This package is perfect for couples who see their wedding as a unique expression of themselves. You can keep it simple and affordable or you can build on it to create a wedding that goes beyond the extraordinary. Throughout the planning process we will present you with some wonderful options. What you decide on is totally up to you.

Attached 2 bedroom guest house (used as Bridal Villas for couples on the day and night of their wedding) features indoor/outdoor bathrooms incorporating carved marble basins and vanities and freestanding, hand made terrazzo bathtubs, imported Granito tile floors, hand carved timber decorative panels and friezes, Merbau doors and windows, covered verandahs and antique teak furniture.

Also available to the bridal party on the wedding day is a private salon for hairdressing and makeup.

The Scene:
Perched on the edge of the Coral Sea in the glorious Whitsundays, Villa Botanica, with its superb gardens and architecture, is a wedding venue simply unmatched anywhere in Australia. Even more extraordinary is that on your wedding day, this grand 5 acre estate is exclusively yours to explore and enjoy.

Upon arrival your guests will be captivated by the breathtaking views and the landscaped tropical gardens while you and your wedding party prepare in our salon. The beautiful palm lined mosaic tiled walkway is the perfect backdrop to make your entrance before taking your vows in the exquisite hand carved timber wedding pavilion.

As the sun sets it's time to sip cocktails and take photos, then a beautiful surprise awaits your guests on the Villa’s expansive 30m long verandah. Overlooking the sea, beautifully decorated tables sit under twinkling fairy lights, with intricate wall carvings, antiquity and stylish extravagance creating a setting that could be anywhere in the world.

After dinner it's time for dancing in the marble ballroom. Late in the night, our complimentary transport arrives to deliver your guests safely home and you retreat to the romantic Bridal Villa with your loved one. As you collapse within the delicate fabric of the carved four poster bed it is the perfect end to a perfect day.
Design:
The house is a temple to maximalism, where ornamentation and richness of colour and texture successfully tread the delicate line between rich exotica and sensory overload. Unlike the token Bali Zen approach so popular in home renovation today, the Balinese influence here is never overdone and evident more as generic influences which owe more to principles of tropical living than slavishly mimicking another culture. 
 
“We didn’t set out to build a palace, but I suppose that is what it’s become,” says Janet Hogan. “I just love the rich colours of the materials that are available in Bali and their refusal to accept ugliness or compromise. To them, every piece of design is an opportunity to celebrate beauty and life."

Villa Botanica is renowned for exquisite intimate weddings. When a couple are married at Botanica the entire 5 hectare estate is solely theirs to enjoy on the day of their wedding. Furthermore each couple is assigned a personal wedding coordinator who assists them through the entire planning process so that is no stress for the bride and groom. Visually the venue is famous for its carved timber ceremony pavilion that sits at the end of a hand tiled pebble wedding aisle framed by a sprawling lush lawn and the coral sea. To complement this is the extensive 30m verandah paved with imported chequerboard pebble tiles that overlooks the terraced gardens, coral sea, franjipani framed swimming pool and open air sea deck.

The Sunken Garden
In the luxuriant Sunken Garden, with its prolific orchids and ferns, the bar is open and wait staff are on hand to serve your selection of beer, wine and non alcoholic drinks.

Should you choose to include post ceremony food platters or canapés, roving wait staff will attend to your guests with trays of freshly prepared delicacies. Choose your selections from our extensive menu of canapés all prepared by Villa's chef.

The Sea Deck
The Sea Deck, suspended over the water and offering a 180° panorama of the Whitsunday coast and islands is the ultimate location to watch the sea turn the same tones as your Tequila Sunset. With soft music, Indian Day beds, twinkling fairy lights, marble café tables and French wrought iron chairs; it doesn’t get any better than this. An ornate carved, fully equipped bar is set up and ready to serve your family and friends exotic cocktails, icy beers, local wines, glasses of bubbly…whatever you or they desire, from our comprehensive drinks packages or simply ordered over the bar.
