Just as you enter the coastal town of Mendocino, you’ll see a sprawling 19th-century Victorian ranch that overlooks the dramatic northern California coastline. Spring Ranch features an awe-inspiring Victorian and two carriage barns from the 1800's that have been carefully restored and filled with architectural salvage and collected antiques from around the world. Massive eucalyptus trees fill the property, setting a scene that feels like you’re tucked into a private forest. This earthy, rustic setting in award-winning Anderson Valley wine country was the perfect backdrop for a recent steampunk style wedding.

Photographer Stephanie Fisher of From the Daisies recently filled us in on all the details of this vintage, bohemian wedding from the feel of the forests to the hidden whiskey bar and that gorgeous coastal sunset light. She's breaking down everything you need know about hosting a wedding at this coastal gem of a venue: Spring Ranch.

Tell us about this wedding at Spring Ranch!

It was truly one of kind. The ranch itself is amazing... tucked in the woods of Mendocino across from the coastal cliffs overlooking the ocean. The kicker was right at ceremony time, when the fog rolled in and made the wedding feel like a scene out of the movie, Twilight.

Why did the couple choose this venue?

I think what appealed most to Lauren and Andy was the diversity that Spring Ranch has to offer and that it isn't super traditional. The venue has two houses to get ready in which feel so cozy and have that rustic charm. The ceremony site is surrounded by those beautiful northern California trees that give events a moody feel.

The reception area has so much variety, it's like Alice exploring Wonderland. Each room has a drastically different vibe, allowing guests to settle and relax in an area that fits them best. The dining area was set up outside with beautiful bulb lights. Then inside was the dance floor along with the whiskey bar they set up upstairs. Lauren and Andy were able to have it all.

What do we need to know about this venue?

I think one thing to take note while shooting here is everything the venue has to offer and taking full advantage of it. There is so much vast nature from the tall trees for moody forest shots to the breezy grass fields overlooking the ocean to all of the details of Spring Ranch itself. The barn has old lockers which make for great floral detail shots, the upstairs has amazing light with intricate wood accents, the onsite collection of antiques provides endless inspiration, and so much more.

What is your favorite part of shooting at this venue?

My favorite part about shooting at Spring Ranch is that it's an oceanside ranch that feels like it has been passed down from generation to generation, and more as though the couple was celebrating on family property. It's such an intimate setting, but so grand and accommodating at the same time.
