The Fashion District of Downtown Los Angeles has a brand new venue and it’s got a storied past, lofty ceilings and a whole lot of party space that’s rad for when you’re planning something wild. Walls of windows and exposed wood beam ceilings make the indoor space at City Market Social House feel open and bright, while outside you’ll find a giant courtyard where your party can spill out to the open-air.

Originally part of the City Market of Los Angeles, this spot dates back to the early 20th century. Following an epic recent renovation, the social hall is now a 12,000 square foot venue with full production capabilities, a huge on-site kitchen and great facilities for throwing the party of a lifetime for up to a thousand of your nearest and dearest. Cocktails in the courtyard followed by dinner and dancing with a big, 10-piece brass band in the warehouse and nightcaps under the moonlight? Sounds like our kind of party.

The masterminds in the kitchen at City Market Social House are none other than Wolfgang Puck Catering and we recently caught up with them to get the scoop on all things CMSH. Read on for more about the NBA All-Stars party they hosted, in which they brought in a basketball half-court and had T-Pain headline a show.

The City Market Social House event space as we see it today draws inspiration from its rich industrial past. The warehouse was originally part of the sprawling City Market of Los Angeles, which opened in 1909 and spanned more than six acres, making it the single largest paved area in Los Angeles. By the 1940s, the Market had grown into one of the largest wholesale produce facilities in the country, with state-of-the-art facilities described by the Los Angeles Times as, “The finest in the entire United States.” Today, as Downtown Los Angeles continues its unprecedented growth, the Fashion District has an established reputation as a neighborhood to watch, and the City Market South development is its crown jewel. The plans for the area include retail, restaurant, luxury condominiums and possibly a hotel. The developers looked at all of this potential and saw the need for a space to host events!

The venue is a creative space, perfect for almost anything! We are finding a lot of clients are moving away from the traditional hotel ballroom and are loving venues that are unique, full of charm and cutting edge. City Market Social House is a planners dream since it is a blank canvas: trade shows, conferences, product launches and social engagements are all a great fit for our venue!

In February, Budweiser hosted a party for the NBA All Star weekend offering two full days of experiences. They built a basketball half-court in one of the warehouses and had a concert headlined by T-Pain in the adjacent warehouse.

Right after that event, Create & Cultivate hosted their conference with us and built a small city throughout the entire development to include a massive beauty lounge, two sound stages and an entire tented trade show. City Market Social House is all about the experience, executing unique events and creating long-lasting memories.
