Let’s paint the picture: You drive just ten minutes outside downtown Cabo and suddenly, you’re not in Kansas anymore. Or LA. Or even Cabo, technically. You’re in a barefoot-in-bougainvillea-covered paradise, where citrus trees grow next to ceremony chairs and mezcal is practically a love language. You can smell the citrus and taste the garden. Welcome to Petunias, Cabo San Lucas Mexico's newest garden party venue, and quite possibly one of the best examples of what happens when two seasoned pros in hospitality and weddings say, “You know what? Let’s build our dream space and make everyone feel like family while we’re at it.”

Yes, it’s beautiful. But more than that? It works. For groups, for kosher celebrations, for dancing under the stars, and for building out a full event weekend. It’s a venue where kosher cuisine is kissed by the sun, plated like art and you sip a signature cocktail next to the tree it came from.

That’s exactly why we’re featuring Petunias as part of our Venue Report Supper Club Series, spotlighting venues that don’t just host events, but elevate the dining experience at the heart of every gathering. This garden venue isn’t just pretty plates and candlelight. With a certified kosher kitchen, an executive chef who pulls ingredients straight from the garden, and mezcal flowing under the citrus trees, this is a place where the menu matters.

The Meet-Cute: From Blind Date to Big Dreams

Petunias is the brainchild of husband-and-wife duo Sean and Natalia, who met on a blind date 14 years ago (proof that matchmaking magic still exists). Natalia, a former wedding makeup artist from Salta, Argentina, built deep roots in the industry through years of working alongside top planners, designers, and vendors. Sean, who grew up on a ranch in Idaho, brings more than 25 years of hospitality experience to the table, most recently serving as Director at Corazón Cabo (the luxury beachfront resort just down the road). For five years, the two dreamed, vision-boarded, scouted, and sketched out a venue that would feel like warm hospitality wrapped in vines.

Petunias opened its doors in November 2024, and already feels seamlessly woven into the Cabo San Lucas landscape.

If a Garden Party Married a Design Lover in Cabo

Petunias Venue is known for its lush greenery, natural beauty, and vibrant, organic landscaping. Palm trees sway, vines spill from every corner, lanterns glow at golden hour, stylish seating nooks scattered around like social candy, and yes there’s even a tree bar.

The heart of it all? A fully working organic garden, overflowing with color and purpose (picture a garden venue that didn’t skip leg day). Rows of herbs, vegetables and citrus trees don’t just look pretty, they literally feed the menu and will make an appearance on your dinner plate. Sun-soaked garden beds overflowing with lavender, rainbow-hued tomatoes, wild arugula, and frilly lettuces that look like they were styled by a florist. There are citrus and fruit trees dotting the space, lemons, limes and more all thriving under that Baja sun. It smells like summer, looks like a still life and makes for an incredibly cinematic ceremony backdrop if you want to say “I do” surrounded by actual living beauty. And because the garden is part of the design (not hidden out back), guests are invited into the experience.

With room for up to 350 guests, Petunias was built to host real celebrations without losing the intimacy. The layout encourages movement and mingling, not seat assignments and stiff small talk. There are multiple areas for guests to enjoy throughout the night, from the two stylish bars to the elegant lounge pockets scattered across the lawn like social candy (and there is already onsite lighting scattered throughout the space).

And yes there is also a private, thoughtfully designed bridal suite tucked into the venue for champagne sips, mirror selfies, and quiet moments before the big walk down the aisle.

The Menu: Where Garden Beds Meet Mezcal and Champagne Toasts (and Yes, It’s Kosher)

Let’s talk about what sets this spot apart in a big way: it’s the first wedding venue in Cabo with a fully certified kosher kitchen. This is major. It means Jewish couples can plan a wedding that’s both culturally meaningful and packed with flavor, without flying in chefs or compromising on quality.

At the helm is Executive Chef Casiano Reyes, who leads the charge with menus built around whatever’s blooming just steps away. Every dish starts in the organic garden, where he handpicks sun-warmed herbs, rainbow lettuces, and whatever else is peaking that week. The result? A menu that’s equal parts garden party and five-star dining experience.

And then there’s the Mezcalita, their signature cocktail. Smoky, citrusy, and already something of a local legend.

Host a Design-Driven Dinner Party Rooted in Mexico’s Soul

At Petunias Venue, the culture of Mexico is the foundation. From the moment guests arrive, they’re immersed in terracotta hues and architectural details that reflect the artistry of the region. This is the kind of event space that begs for local layers. Think: handcrafted pottery from nearby artisans, woven napkins and embroidered linens in every shade of sunset, and tables dressed with wild florals and ceramic vessels made just down the road.

Cocktail hour? That’s where it can get really fun. Host a guided mezcal tasting under the citrus trees, pass around fresh ceviche tostadas, or let guests build their own palomas with ingredients picked from the garden that morning.  And the music? Ditch your playlist and swap for a silent disco or live music or both. Mariachi, son jarocho, maybe even a local trio playing your favorite boleros at dinner. Whatever your vibe, you can bring the real spirit of Mexico into every toast, every dance, every bite.

The Logistics: One Venue, One Hotel, Zero Stress

Here’s another fun fact: Your event weekend doesn’t need to require a spreadsheet, a shuttle schedule, and three backup plans. Why? Because Sean (yes, that Sean, the co-founder of Petunias) also happens to be the Director at Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa, the luxury beachfront hotel just ten minutes down the road.

That means couples don’t just get a gorgeous venue, they get a built-in hotel partner with five-star accommodations, group rates and a direct line to someone who actually gets what makes weddings work. This partnership eliminates the usual chaos of coordinating separate venues and hotels (Cabo convenience at its finest). A spectacular setting for your event, a beachfront place to sleep it off and no logistical nightmares in between. Consider it your destination wedding or event power move.
