Casa Amate
Open for dinner and Sunday brunch and serving diverse Latin American cuisine, Casa Amate has a unique and sophisticated residential concept designed to resemble the home of an eclectic traveler passionate about Latin culture. The restaurant is built around a courtyard with a special Amate tree, which gives the venue its name. Each intimate room is specifically designed as one would find in a house. The “Studio” functions as a lounge with a small bar, residential furniture, a map collection and shelves with artifacts. The “Library” is lined with bookshelves and a large communal library table where guests can dine. The “Estancia” has a fireplace, shelves for collectibles and large format art with dining at various types of tables and chairs; and the “Comedor” features large sets of doors that connect to the courtyard and overlook the resort’s surrounding lagoon and floor tiles inspired by Mexican crafts. The menu, created by Casa Amate Head Chef Ernesto Torres, includes a variety of creative and flavorful salads, soups, meats, poultry, fish and vegetarian options inspired by different Latin American countries.
Apart from the diverse and delicious culinary offerings, Casa Amate also has a unique bar studio with an extensive selection of spirits, liqueurs and mixers. The talented team of internationally experienced mixologists focuses on modern techniques, new trends and artisanal fusions and have curated a creative list of cocktails and mocktails using a variety of Mexican spirits, spices and fresh and locally sourced ingredients. The mixology team creates homemade syrups with no artificial flavors such as purple basil, passion fruit, chipotle chile and rosemary, among others. Guests can participate in mixology demonstrations to learn more about the ingredients and how to use them in cocktails. Guests can also enjoy tequila tastings paired with cigars on Casa Amate’s outdoor courtyard patio.

Cocina Milagro, in the heart of the resort, is the resort’s poolside pavilion restaurant featuring floor-to-ceiling glass doors and windows, two open kitchens and a bar terrace. The unique open kitchen concept allows guests to interact with chefs and watch them prepare the food, a unique concept from the Andaz brand. The venue also features a bar setup during lunch and dinner where they serve creative, handcrafted cocktails, wine and coffee. The restaurant offers an array of culinary stations as well, featuring a diverse range of Mexican and international specialties for guests to enjoy. The interior of the restaurant is a combination of locally handcrafted tile, local tzalam wood, and stone. Large hanging pedants and exposed wood beams are suspended from the tall turquoise ceiling, colored to reference the sky and water. Guests can enjoy stunning views of the mangroves while dining as well as live music in the evenings from a local band. Open for all-day dining, the restaurant has a market-to-table menu concept with locally sourced products and ingredients, many taken directly from the chef’s onsite herb garden.

The restaurant features a Mediterranean menu curated by Executive Chef Miguel Gomez including fresh seafood, daily chef specials, salads and appetizers and a variety of desserts. Sotavento doubles as a sun-soaked daytime venue and a memorable evening experience enhanced with beautiful sunsets, live entertainment curated by resident DJ Jared Dietch, soft lighting from overhead string lights and a light sea breeze. The restaurant’s décor is vibrant and casual with colorful furniture, comfortable seating, a cozy fire pit and chic accents.
