Hidden in the lush jungles of Bali overlooking terraced rice fields and giant palm trees, this bamboo villa is the kind of getaway that’ll make you feel almost instantly at ease. If you’re planning your next birthday and want to head somewhere tropical, adventurous and smoky with zen, Camaya Bali Bamboo House could just be your spot. The house has a giant terrace hammock and it’s just the right size for up to four guests, so bringing along a few of your best pals is absolutely encouraged. We can totally picture you lounging outside, enjoying the breeze and a glass of wine, soaking up all the healing energy of spending a weekend with your crew.

A Bamboo Sanctuary

Camaya Bali Suboya is one of three large bamboo houses, with a smaller house nearby. The villa has a spacious upper level bedroom with big windows overlooking the view, and an extra king size bed downstairs in the living room. The villa is completely secluded, located over an hour from Ubud, making it the kind of place where it’s easy to reconnect with nature and your travel tribe. You might see a few villagers and farmers strolling through the area, but mostly this sanctuary is meant to feel like your own little world away from the chaos of city life. Whether your birthday bucket list is about self-love and meditation or about connecting with your dearest friends on a whole new spiritual level, this spot makes an epic backdrop for blowing out those birthday candles.

Local Fare

An authentic Balinese meal isn’t hard to come by at this property, as there’s a family-run restaurant right on the grounds. On your birthday morning, simply take a stroll around the rice fields and pick a few fruits to make a nice juice or morning fruit salad to go along with your breakfast spread. Lunches and dinners can be booked with the restaurant, or if you feel like heading into the village of Selat, the villa can hook you up with a scooter for the occasion.

Adventures in Bali

The villa’s jungle bathtub is an amazing experience if you’d like to embrace your inner glowing goddess on your birthday. Naturally, you’ll also want to do a hike through the rice terraces that are right outside your window. If you’re looking for an aquatic activity, there’s whitewater rafting nearby, or you might opt to visit the Tirtagangga Water Palace or Tukad Cepung Waterfall. Maybe a few days of private yoga sessions can be tacked onto your agenda, using the open-air spaces to meditate, move and find a little extra birthday zen. One more thing that might help you find a little inner peace is taking a meditative course in Balinese carving, known as Canang Sari. Whatever you do with your days, they’re sure to be filled with warm, tropical breezes and the beautiful sounds of the jungle.
