Ladies ladies ladies. We recently attended a gals only, 70's glam event hosted by San Diego locals, Jill of Layered Vintage and Melissa of Pow Wow Design Studio that brings the perfect #girlpower party inspo. From the moment you walked in the door, you could feel the those disco vibes from the cocktail menu to the dance floor. Of course, food was passed and drinks were poured but you could also get your hair styled, nails polished and shop with the variety of local female vendors there.

Girl gang goals were definitely achieved and to top it off, the decor wasn't the only inspiring part of the evening. There was a rare energy in the air - an energy you don't find at many events. The warm feeling of respect danced around the glitter filled room as women connected with one another over genuine compliments, conversations, and collaborations. It was a special night where these dynamic women let their guard down, forgot about work, stress, and their hardships to foster new and old relationships alike. It was a city of women that came together and empowered one another at a time of unprecedented importance.

What inspired this event?

Jill: I had recently fallen in love with the quote ~ "Girls support Girls." Simple, necessary and something I'm all about. That combined with, Valentine's Day which was quickly approaching, inspired me to throw a party around the idea that while traditionally the holiday is about your lover or relationship with your significant other, it is also about the female friendships in your life.  Something I feel we all cherish and really value but maybe don't celebrate quite enough.

Galentine's Day is a little silly and I know some might roll their eyes when they hear it but having ladies in your life that love you unconditionally and are always there to support you is a priceless thing and definitely one to throw a party for.

What inspired the design of this event?

Melissa: When Jill asked if we would come on as the designer of the event I was excited because I felt like it was the perfect opportunity to create an atmosphere for women to feel empowered and sexy in. When we pull together and put down our judgments, comparisons and insecurities, we are capable of incredible things. The energy in a room full of supportive women is unlike anything else. I really wanted my friend Amanda to perform Burlesque because when you take the male viewer out of a situation like that and it's all women, we begin to feel love and support for her and we want her to do well and feel good. We're not comparing our bodies, we're cheering each other on and accepting who we all are physically regardless of shape, size or age. It allows us to feel connected. At this time in history, we as women will move mountains if we keep together. I'm excited!

Now, you have it! The perfect inspiration to plan an epic Girl's Only Night with your bests and new friends you have yet to meet in your community. If you're not the party planning type then we encourage you to get out there and head to a local event whether that be a pop-up shop or happy hour. Everyone has their core group of ladies - But together we are stronger. Let's make 2017 the year of combining friend groups, seeking out the rookie of the town and giving each other more compliments to ignite encouragement and uplifting vibes everywhere we step foot.
